When the VPN will not connect
First confirm that normal internet access works without the tunnel. Then check the server address, device time, credentials or keys, protocol selection and whether the network blocks the required transport.
If a one-time pairing code is involved, create a fresh code and complete pairing before it expires. Reusing an old screenshot should fail by design.
When the VPN connects but traffic fails
A successful tunnel handshake does not prove that routes and DNS are correct. Check whether the client received addresses, DNS servers and allowed network ranges. Conflicting local subnets can send traffic to the wrong interface.
Test a known IP address separately from a domain name. If the IP works but the domain does not, focus on DNS configuration.
When the VPN is slow or unstable
Compare nearby and distant servers, Wi‑Fi and mobile networks, and different times of day. Latency, packet loss, server load, encryption overhead and the underlying connection can all affect VPN speed.
Change one variable at a time and record results. Repeated random changes make the cause harder to identify.
